Success Stories From Our Leadership Development

A mid-size University with an ambitious strategic plan and a newly constituted leadership team experienced huge challenges as they embarked on their new direction. They attempted to move the organization from the “old” way of doing business to changing the priorities and systems to align with the goals of the strategic plan. The executive leader envisioned a cohesive, collaborative team, which was not formulating quickly enough for the new demands. The integration of new and incumbent team members resulted in significant stylistic differences.

  • We provided coaching and consulting to the executive leader in Clarifying His Vision and his expectations for the leadership team.
  • Through Leadership Team Development in team meetings, they envisioned a new model of interaction and identified the competencies needed for success, as well as completing the 360 process.
  • The team received Individual Leadership Development, which included individual assessment and coaching, and preparation of individual development plans to meet team goals.
  • We helped the team build Leadership Structures for Sustainability in executive team retreats to envision and define successful decision-making and communication structures.
  • The next phase of the project is to take the Leadership and Management Skill-Building to the director level.

Results: Increased effectiveness in communication and decision-making in the executive leadership team, a lower degree of conflict, a more committed and enthusiastic executive team, and prepared and skilled leaders.

A large healthcare organization was in the process of reorganizing their delivery of learning and development for managers and staff in a variety of business units.

  • We provided coaching to the executive leader in order to Clarify and Communicate a Realistic Vision for learning and training in the organization, in light of minimal centralized resources amidst high demand, minimal resources.
  • We assisted in the development of a Strategic Plan through Interviews with Key Stakeholders, Benchmarking and Development of a Business Case.
  • We also assisted in the analysis of staffing, delivery demands, and budget limitations, and minimal resources for leadership, management and staff education. We assisted in the development of a Staffing Plan and assisted in the identification and hiring of a Director for the department.

Results: Because of this process, thousands more staff have access to information and skills to ensure the organization’s success.

The Executive Director of a social service agency needed to move her organization to the next level of efficiency, consistent service delivery and financial stability.

  • Through Strategic Visioning in executive coaching, the ED clarified her vision for the agency, moving her role from an operational leader to a visible leader in the community in order to engage the community in providing increased financial support.
  • As she moved into this new role, the creation of an executive leadership team was necessary in order to assure the effective direction of the organization’s staff. We provided consultation and skill development to this team as they clarified their roles and responsibilities and increased their leadership skill.
  • A Director Level Training Skills program was created and delivered, providing skill building in management skills, decision-making and problem-solving, resolving conflict, creating an environment of inclusion, and aligning day-to-day responsibilities with the values of the organization.
  • As the organization grew, we provided consulting in the design and implementation of a Development and Public Relations function in the agency, which included clarifying a strategy for development/public relations, clarifying board and staff responsibilities, and data and communication systems to support the function. A grant was procured to fund the development of a fund raising department.
  • Finally, we assisted in a Strategic Planning Process with the Board of Directors, providing a “snapshot” of the agency, SWOT analysis, and design of board roles and responsibilities for the future.

Results: The organization moved forward with increased stability, financial stability, infrastructure for leadership and fund raising, and clarity of organizational priorities. Subsequently, a succession planning and robust strategic planning process was implemented to organize the agency for the future.
